Mission Statement

1. Community & Skills Focused

  • To promote the enjoyment, skills, and community of amateur radio by supporting learning, encouraging on-air activity, and engaging with the wider public through events and training.
  • “To advance amateur radio through education, experimentation, and inclusive participation, ensuring every member has opportunities to develop, contribute, and connect, and fostering cooperation among radio amateurs of all backgrounds.
  • To inspire new generations of radio enthusiasts by providing accessible training, hands-on activities, and supportive mentorship for all ages.

Annual Aims / Priorities 

1. Membership Development & Engagement

  • Increase active on-air participation by organising daily/weekly net nights with rotating topics.
  • Run at least two recruitment campaigns (local events, schools, STEM fairs, online promotion).
  • Launch an “Elmer/Mentor Program” pairing experienced operators with newcomers.
  • Aim to increase membership year-on-year by 10%

2. Training & Skills Enhancement

  • Host six skills workshops (antenna building, digital modes, contesting, SOTA/POTA, satellite comms).
  • Build a “skills library” of loaner equipment and tutorials.

3. Public Outreach & Visibility

  • Participate in at least two community events (field days, emergency services open day, science fairs).
  • Strengthen the club’s online presence with regular posts of activities and achievements.
  • Deliver a youth engagement session at a local school or scouts group.

4. Technical Projects & Experimentation

  • Club project: build, maintain or upgrade our club station, SDR setup, or portable mast.
  • Start a digital modes group (FT8, DMR, Fusion, APRS experiments).
  • Encourage members to pursue individual or group construction projects.

5. Events & On-Air Activity

  • Organise quarterly club contests with friendly competition.
  • Activate at least two special event stations (e.g. museums, heritage sites, local history).
  • Schedule monthly portable operations: SOTA, POTA, beach/park activations.

7. Club Culture & Member Support

  • Improve inclusivity with clear welcoming processes (induction, Mentoring, loan equipment, etc.) for new members.
  • Create a member recognition program (e.g., “Member of the Month,” awards for achievements).
  • Offer monthly social meetups beyond regular net nights. (Breakfast, evening meal, etc.)
